Angling Direct posts strong half

Angling Direct has posted £26.5 million in revenue for the six months to July 31st, representing an increase of 21 per cent. Stores sales were up by 41 per cent boosted by the opening of five new shops whereas on a like-for-like basis the retailer enjoyed 15 per cent growth. Online sales rose by 10 per cent with greater focus made on selling via its own website rather than third party sites. The retailer currently has 29 stores.

“We have demonstrated that our strategy to operate both online and in-store works effectively in niche markets,” commented Angling Direct CEO Darren Bailey. “We remain focused on our strategy of consolidation, as well as on the roll-out of new eCommerce platforms in Europe, in order to continue to deliver value and growth.”
