Argos gives catalogue browsing a digital rethink

For shoppers who enjoy browsing before deciding what to buy, Argos is giving its catalogue format a new role within its app.

Your Catalogue combines product suggestions, new arrivals, popular ranges and gift ideas, with the option to save favourites to a wishlist or visit a product page to buy.

The personalisation depends on consent. Customers who opt in can receive recommendations informed by their browsing activity, while others see a general selection of products and categories. There is no need to sign into an account to browse.

Argos says the recommendations can adapt as customers’ interests change, bringing a more individual approach to the familiar catalogue shopping experience.

There are a couple of practical limitations. Argos’ published guidance refers to availability for a selected group of iOS accounts, with further updates to follow. And shoppers building a wishlist in the app should be aware that it will not synchronise with their wishlist on the website.
