Argos has selected London’s Cannon Street Underground station as the location for a trial mini-store of just 170 sq.ft. which will be fed customers’ orders via a twice daily delivery from a larger store. The new outlet which will be open for 12 hours a day to cover key commuting times as well as “normal” shopping hours and will also offer a Click & Collect point for customers ordering online. Both same-day and next day delivery are being offered to customers wishing to use the facility.
Transport for London is striking deals with other retail chains to generate revenue from its premises – it has over 1000 lock-up retail units across its network, most of which enjoy very heavy regular footfall.
