ASOS delivered another strong performance during the five months to 31st August, with growth in both sales and profits across all
territories. Total retail sales were up 32 per cent to £321 million ($517.4 million), while profit before tax and exceptional items was up 42 per cent to £13.2 million ($21.3 million).
International sales growth continues to drive performance and now accounts for 65 per cent of total retail sales compared to 59 per cent in the comparative period. What’s more, the USA was the fastest growing segment within retail sales up 72 per cent during the period.
ASOS also revealed that it now has more active customers outside of its home market. Achieving 5 million active customers in the last fiscal year, ASOS estimates that only 45 per cent of them are from the UK.
As part of its continued expansion, Asos has appointed in-country management teams in the US, Germany and France to further drive the marketing efforts in those territories. The new teams complement ASOS’ existing presence in Sydney, Australia.
In addition, work is being carried out on the ASOS eCommerce platform in preparation for support for all language character sets and a launch into the Russian and Chinese markets. It’s expected that the platform will enhance the company’s global capability by the beginning of 2014.
