Banana Republic pulls out of UK retailing

GAP owned Banana Republic has called time on its 8 UK stores as global sales have come under pressure. The stores, primarily in London, will be shuttered by the end of the year but customers will still be able to place online orders for UK delivery beyond that. Banana Republic, a US brand which GAP acquired in 1983, operates some 650 stores in its own right in the United States, Europe and Japan in addition to about 100 franchises.
