Barloworld adds another channel

Warehouse handling equipment and lift trucks distributor
Barloworld has launched what it calls “an online industrial
equipment superstore”. The website, which went live in
July, allows customers to buy from a selection of 3,000 lifting,
handling, storage, and safety products.

The site replaces Barloworld’s printed catalogue, which has been
in existence for more than 25 years, though a spokesperson
confirmed that printed material won’t disappear completely from
the company’s marketing campaigns. Barloworld will continue to
mail a much smaller best-sellers catalogue to its customer
database. The decision to focus on the web rather than on the
paper catalogue was in response to the growing trend of buyers of
industrial products preferring to purchase online, according to
the spokesperson.

In addition to the website, Barloworld operates 22 regional
support centres and has a network of 1,100 support staff,
including 550 service engineers, a telesales team, and a field
sales team. In March it opened the National Used Equipment
Reception Centre in Tamworth, Staffordshire. The 62,000-sq-ft
premises, the largest in Barloworld’s UK portfolio, acts as a
central hub for used equipment that is to be assessed and
redistributed for resale, hire, or disposal.
