Former ASOS CEO Nick Beighton has been appointed as CEO of Matchesfashion, replacing Paolo De Cesare who is moving on to pursue other opportunities.

Beighton was with ASOS for more than ten years, initially as its CFO, during which time ASOS’s growth was meteoric. He joins the somewhat smaller private equity backed luxury fashion retailer which competes primarily with Farfetch and Net-a-Porter, with a brief to turn the business around.
Apax Partners acquired a controlling stake in Matches in 2017 and this is the fourth attempt to bring in the right CEO in less than three years. Apax is now expected to provide additional funding to enable Beighton to deliver.
