Direct sales business Betterware Ltd was placed into administration on April 13th The business was founded in 1928 and initially specialised in homewares and cleaning products later extending its ranges to include gifts and personal care products sold via self employed agents using its catalogues to attract customers. Over the last nine months the company had suffered from tough trading conditions leading to cashflow problems in an increasingly competitive market. The same fate fell to its sister company Kleeneze which was placed into administration on April 12th.
95 Betterware employees have been made redundant following failed attempts by joint administrators Gareth Rusling and Claire Dowson, of Begbies Traynor, to find a buyer.
