Boden doubles sales in Germany

Sales at British apparel cataloguer Boden rose by 20.1 percent in
2009 to £201.9 million ($310 million), whilst pretax profit
grew 15.9 percent to £28.7 million ($44 million). Much of
the rise has been attributed to Boden’s success in Germany, where
sales more than doubled to £16.7 million ($25.6 million) in
the 12 months ended December 2009.

Boden now intends to fully launch its Austrian business, which
was trialled successfully during the year. It will also expand to
other, as yet undisclosed, European countries in 2011.

In the US, the company saw modest growth last year as trading
conditions remained tough. In total, Boden now has more than a
million customers worldwide.
