L’Oreal which is seeking a buyer for The Body Shop is being reported to have attracted interest from CVC Capital Partners, InvestIndustrial, and more recently from Chinese healthcare business Renhe Pharmacy Co. The French cosmetics group had paid £650 million for the Body Shop in 2006 and has apparently lowered its original target of £850 million to £50 million less than it paid for it. There are around 3000 Body Shop stores around the world and with sales falling, any new owner will, it is said, need to focus on restoring the brand’s USP and standing in what has become a very crowded segment.
