Borders edges closer to website launch

Borders UK and Ireland is to replace its Amazon-built website
with an online shop designed and built by Tangent. Borders had
been using Tangent for the creation of satellite sites enabling
70 Borders stores across the UK and Ireland to manage their own
personalised web pages to better engage local customers.

The online store, due launch in spring 2008, will list more than
one million products, initially covering books, CDs, DVDs and
computer games. It will also feature a bespoke search engine and
a community area for customers. Earlier in the year Borders
selected Sterling Commerce to provide its US site with order
management capabilities that will include ship-to-store and
fulfil-from-store functionalities.
