The British Heart Foundation has announced that it will close c.150 stores in the next two years to ensure its retail network remains viable. It plans to close 90 stores by the end of March 2027, with the remainder closing by March 2028. The charity may also look to reduce the teams supporting its retail network, but no information on how many roles this will impact has been shared.
Dr Charmaine Griffiths, Chief Executive, British Heart Foundation said: “Like most retailers, we are facing an exceptionally challenging trading environment. Cardiovascular disease remains one of the UK’s biggest killers, and our priority is funding research to save lives. We must take the difficult step to close some of our shops to sustain retail’s important contribution to funding BHF’s groundbreaking research.”
