British Retail Consortium abandons call to freeze business rates

According to another report in the Telegraph the British
Retail Consortium has abandoned its call to freeze business rates entirely by
scrapping the annual inflation-based increase and has instead called for the
annual increase in business rates to be capped at 2 percent. In a letter to
retailers, the director-general of the BRC, Helen Dickinson, said it was
“unrealistic” to ask the Treasury to freeze business rates.
