Bucher heads out of Debenhams

Sergio Bucher is to step down from the role of chief executive at Debenhams following the sale of the business in a pre-pack to its lenders. Bucher had already been voted off the board of the department store in January.

Bucher commented: “Now that our refinancing facilities are in place, it is time to move on, knowing the company is in good hands with a plan that can deliver a sustainable future. I would like to wholeheartedly thanks all of my colleagues for their efforts and dedication during such a turbulent time, as well as our suppliers, partners and of course customers for their continued support.”

All eyes are now on the Debenhams business which is expected to close 50 stores.
