The mounting fury amongst unpaid suppliers to House of Fraser prior to its sale to Sports Direct has spurred one of those affected suppliers to demand a full investigation into the actions of the former directors of House of Fraser.
Ehab Shouly of Tea Terrace, which was owed over £320,000 went the House of Fraser business folded, is reported to have claimed that HoF’s former chairman Frank Slevin and former CEO Alex Williamson, who resigned from the business in April, kept information from him (and other suppliers) and had repeatedly denied that the department store chain was about to collapse. Slevin was , incidentally, also chairman of Brookstone, the US retailer which also fell into administration this summer.
Shouly now joins Mike Ashley’s demand for an investigation, with other affected suppliers very likely to follow. Ashley had earlier stated that he believed that 3PL supplier XPO and many other suppliers were misled by Frank Slevin and the board of House of Fraser and that a full investigation should be mounted into their management of the business and its supplier relationships. Williamson resigned from the retailer in April.
