Kingfisher, whose businesses include home-improvement retailer
B&Q and cataloguer Screwfix Direct has promoted Ian
Cheshire to chief executive. Cheshire is credited with
restructuring B&Q, doubling the number of stores in key markets
and growing profit from £5 million to more than £80
million. He replaces Gerry Murphy who announced his retirement in
November.
