Chris Ronnie sentenced for JJB Sports fraud


The former chief executive of JJB Sports, Chris Ronnie, has been found guilty of receiving payments of more than £1 million, in the form of personal “kickbacks” from suppliers,  which were not declared to the board of JJB Sports. A further conviction related to the falsification of a loan agreement.  Ronnie was sentenced to serve four years for the fraud offences and a further year for charges relating to the loan agreement. 

Ronnie’s two co-defendants, David Ball and David Barrington who had worked for Performance Brands,as well as Fashion and Sport, each received an eighteen month sentence for perverting the course of justice and attempting to destroy evidence.
