Removal of the need to secure planning permission for the installation of click & collect lockers within retail premises is set to level the playing field for smaller retail businesses keen to drive extra footfall to their stores and create a new revenue stream. High Street’s Minster Penny Mordaunt and Housing & Planning Minster Brandon Lewis have also kickstarted a feasibility study for the establishment of a one stop shop offering advice to retailers, councils and trading groups on how to compete on the digital high street. The study is to be led by Peter Fitzgerald, UK sales director at Google.
