Cox and Cox takes Cowboys and Cupcakes

Homewares and gifts cataloguer Cox & Cox has taken the majority
stake in toys catalogue Tridias, now known as Cowboys and
Cupcakes.

Michelle Follett-Holt, who had been working for Tridias as a
consultant since summer 2007, acquired the company’s assets from
the administrators last year with a view to continue running the
business. But following a difficult first year of trading and
with, by Follett-Holt’s own admission, “little hope of
survival” without outside help, she sought the advice of
Roderick Taylor, managing director and majority shareholder of
Cox & Cox and ecommerce and fulfilment business Plantstuff. Cox &
Cox had already dipped its toe into the children’s market,
partnering with children’s furniture cataloguer Aspace to produce
a Christmas gifts spin-off catalogue.

Follett-Holt will stay with the business as a director,
overseeing product selection and catalogue production, and will
retain a shareholding. Taylor will move the fulfilment function
into Plantstuff’s facilities in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, and
will take over the operational running of the business. He hopes
to integrate Cowboys and Cupcakes into the Cox & Cox website in
early April. The next Cowboys and Cupcakes catalogue will mail in
time for autumn/winter 2009.
