The sad news has reached us that David St John Thomas, the founder of David & Charles Publishers (which is now known as F&W Media International Ltd) passed away on the 18th August after a short illness.
David formed David & Charles in 1960 along with Charles Hadfield and went on to publish a range of books for hobbyists and enthusiasts. In the 1970’s the company acquired Readers’ Union, a group of book clubs serving handicrafts, gardening, equestrian and photography enthusiasts, and went on establish a US office. The UK offices were based in Newton Abbot, Devon, where F&W Media continues to be run from.
