A workwear company that commenced trading in 1989 has been sold in a deal purported to be c£50m. Companies House records show that control of Workwear Express passed to Bunzl Plc last week, with founder Andrew Ward exiting but retaining ownership of the premises the business operates in. Ward who is now seeking new investments will remain as a consultant, in the short term, to the business he founded.
Three new directors from Bunzl, were appointed last week but it is understood that the current Workwear Express management team will continue with the business which achieved sales of £28.6m to y/e March 2021 which was up by 33 per cent on the previous year.
Bunzl made no comment when approached for confirmation but is known to be highly acquisitive.
