Demandware to help clients offer Apple Pay online

Demandware has announced that it will be among the first commerce platforms to support Apple Pay, allowing Demandware Commerce Cloud clients to offer customers the ability to easily make secure and private payments in Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Adding Apple Pay as a checkout option will drastically simplify the multi-step process that traditionally stands between a consumer and a transaction, increasing sales and customer satisfaction on both mobile and desktop.

Consumers are increasingly shopping on iPhone; merchants now see nearly half of their overall site traffic coming from mobile devices. However, the majority of orders continues to come from desktop computers where the checkout process is often more easily executed. Demandware clients that take advantage of Apple Pay in their mobile web storefront will more easily convert mobile traffic into sales through Apple Pay’s single touch transacting.

“Our role at Demandware is to extend commerce to wherever the shopper is,” said Elana Anderson, senior vice president of marketing at Demandware. “In the last year, mobile has become the consumer’s number one choice for shopping, however, the checkout process hasn’t caught up with this shift. Now, by enabling Apple Pay on their Demandware storefronts, merchants will be able to offer a frictionless checkout experience in Safari whether via mobile or desktop, easily converting traffic into sales.”

Apple Pay on the web will go live for consumers this autumn. Demandware clients will be able to easily enable Apple Pay through the Demandware Commerce Cloud using a simple configuration.
