John Cleland, former chief executive of Maplin, has been appointed as chief executive by Dobbies. He replaces Andy King who will continue as an advisor to the board of the garden centre business. Dobbies was acquired from Tesco recently by Midlothian Capital Partners and Hattington Capital.
