Dobbies partners with Ocado

Dobbies partners with Ocado

Dobbies has entered into a five-year contract with Ocado to enable the garden centre operator to launch an eCommerce store. The new online store will launch early in 2018 and Ocado will support it via its web platform, logistics and order fulfilment. The relationship is similar to that between Ocado and Fabled/Marie Claire.

“Online, excluding food, is now approaching 40 per cent of UK retail sales and rapidly growing. Yet, online garden retailing is just a few per cent,” said Dobbies recently appointed CEO, Nicholas Marshall. “The garden centre industry is at least ten years behind the rest of the retail world. The gardening market in the UK is worth £4 billion. The potential is therefore enormous. For us to partner with Ocado, the best online retailer in the UK,  is a brilliant opportunity for Dobbies, and its customers.”

In addition to this new partnership, it is being suggested that Ocado is also partnering with Marks & Spencer’s M&S Food in order to support its online grocery delivery trial.
