Wyevale has confirmed the sale of 31 more of its garden centres to Dobbies. Rebranding will commence once the sale is completed at the end of next month. Dobbies acquired six sites from Wyevale in October. As a result of this sale, Wyevale has commenced a consultation process with staff at its Syon Park offices where it is seeking to cut 20 roles.
This leaves Wyevale with 60 UK garden centres as well as four other which are operated under licence.
Anthony Jones, chief operating officer of Wyevale said: “We are pleased to have agreed the sale of a portfolio of our centres to Dobbies Garden Centres and wish them well for the next stage of their growth and development with Dobbies. I am delighted with our strong start to the year and am excited about trading for the rest of the main gardening season. Meanwhile, we also continue to evaluate a wide range of options as part if our ongoing sales process.”
Wyevale has reported strong trading with sales 26 per cent up year on year for the first quarter of 2019.
