DPD, which has just released its 2014 results which showed 20 per cent revenue growth in the UK, is to launch its UK Pickup network in June. The new click & collect service enables consumers to have their parcels delivered to their nearest DPD PickUp point which might be, for example, a local convenience store or pharmacy, or a branch of a participating retail competitor. The Numark Pharmacy and Halfords are amongst the first retailers to sign up to be part of the service. DPD’s service extends beyond that offered by other Click & Collect facilitators in that consumers can can provide short notice changes to their delivery choices so that a parcel headed for home delivery can be diverted to a Pick Up point mere hours before a delivery is due to be made. A full returns service completes the offering which, says DPD, will provide most UK consumers with a service point within ten minutes (we assume, drive).
DPD’s CEO Dwain McDonald commented: “This is all about giving our customers choice and a quality experience. We think our existing home delivery service is the best in the business, and our customers agree, voting us top in both Which? and MoneyExpert polls recently. But we never stand still. In future we will be able tio offer our customers a choice between a one-hour timeslot home delivery or a DPD PickUp delivery.”
