The Government is coming under pressure to stop wealthy offshore business owners from accessing subsidy from the furlough scheme. Matalan owner John Hargreaves, David & Simon Reuben, Sir Philip Green and others are facing increasing pressure to fully fund their own business’ payrolls rather than expect UK taxpayers to do so.
Whilst the furlough scheme was brought in with the best of intentions, it is seemingly wide open to fraud and cases are already been heard of businesses claiming the subsidy whilst still expecting their employees to work.
