Dunelm has confirmed that its fourth-quarter results suffered badly due to lockdown. Its total sales for the period plummeted by 28.6 per cent as store like-for-likes fell by 49.7 per cent. In contrast, its online sales rose by 85.2 per cent for the 16 weeks to June 27th.
All stores have now re-opened, leaving the in-store cafes to last and which it expects to have up and running again by the end of this month.
The business says that it will show a pre-tax profit of between £105 million and £100 million when it shares its preliminary results.
“The decisions we have made over the last few months have been guided by our principles and value and we are emerging from this unprecedented period as a stronger business, ” said CEO Nick Wilkinson. “This has given us the confidence to accelerate our digital transformation and introduce new ways of serving our customers.”
