Superdry has confirmed that its founder Julian Dunkerton will remain with the business on a permanent basis in the role of CEO. Dunkerton has acted as interim CEO since the start of April. Former CEO Euan Sutherland and a number of other directors swiftly exited the business which Dunkerton asserted had unsuccessfully tried to take the brand away from its roots causing its sales and profitability to plummet.
The Superdry board commented: “Today’s announcement reflects the board’s unanimous view that he (Dunkerton) is the right person to lead the business through this initial crucial phase of the turnaround.”
Meanwhile, the board’s nomination committee will continue the process to find a long-term CEO successor.
