Easter delivers footfall boost for UK retail

While the lead up to Easter weekend was somewhat subdued, Easter weekend itself proved to be a busy one for UK’s retail destinations compared with Easter weekend 2025.

Footfall rose by +3.4 per cent overall driven by a +4.1 per cent uplift in visits to high streets. Much of this surge occurred on Easter Monday where activity in high streets rose by +21.1 per cent year on year suggesting that warmer weather combined with Easter activities in local towns and cities likely drove visits. Retail parks and shopping centres also benefited from the Easter Monday boost as visits rose by +5.2 per cent and +9 per cent, respectively.

It remains to be seen if the increased footfall led to a boost in sales for retailers.
