EU data protection update: according to Outlaw.com, a legal
news site from law firm Pinsent Masons, the EU Working Party committee has said
businesses should be permitted to create profiles of individuals without their
consent providing the activity “does not significantly affect the interests,
rights or freedoms of the data subject”. For more on what “significantly
affects” means, the Working Party recommended that the European Data Protection
Board should be tasked with issuing guidelines.
