Evans Cycles to shutter 8 stores in total

The review process that has been underway since Sports Direct acquired Evans Cycles has resulted in the closure of five stores to date with a further three earmarked to go. Affected staff are being offered alternative roles where possible. The business is now looking to open news stores with two already in the pipeline, at Shirebook and Glasgow.

CEO Steve Trowbridge commented: “Following the purchase of Evans Cycles by Sports Direct, we have been undertaking a detailed review of the store portfolio to ensure each store is profitable and sustainable long-term for the business. We are now turning our attention to returning to profitability and moving forward.”
