Evening delivery service – 500,000 deliveries since launch

CitySprint’s last mile delivery start-up, On the dot, has announced that its new evening delivery service is nearing half a million deliveries for the twenty-two retailers already signed up.

Retailers including Missguided, FootAsylum and John Lewis & Partners have signed up to the service in order to gain the ability to offer customers unprecedented convenience with additional delivery options that fit around their lives. Depending on the location, customers in the UK can now order up until midnight and receive their goods the next day, between 6pm and 10pm, seven days per week, in addition to the same-day option already available.

With nearly 500,000 deliveries completed since launch, and approximately 4,000 deliveries being carried out per day, the service which launched last year is expected to grow to a minimum of 10,000 deliveries daily in 2020 as more customers come on board.

Commenting on the service, Karl Harwood, head of distribution, supply chain at Missguided, said: “Today, online shoppers expect their goods to be delivered quickly and with the best possible service. If you don’t get this right, consumers will simply look at other options available and go elsewhere. As a business operating in a very competitive marketplace, there is no room for error.

“With On the dot’s evening delivery service, we can provide our customers with the ultimate delivery convenience — with customers benefiting from improved notifications and real time courier GPS tracking. We are so delighted with the way in which the onboarding was handled and how the service is running (achieving a 98 per cent delivery success rate within the 6-10pm time slot over the 2019 festive peak), that we are now working together on further enhancements — including extending the reach of our same day offering”, he added.

Integrated with Scurri, GFS and MetaPack’s courier management software, the service also enables retailers to customise and co-brand both their delivery notifications and tracking pages which means their customers can enjoy improved and seamless interactions at multiple touchpoints including check-out.
