EWM is understood to be front runner to acquire three high street fashion chains which are being sold by Kaupthing the Icelandic bank which took the businesses over following the collapse of previously owner Baugur. The brands have around 750 outlets between them including department store concessions. An original asking price of over £100 million was suggested but this has since fallen to a figure below £50 million.
