Findel posts disappointing half year

Findel in which Sports Direct has a 19 per cent stake has reported flat results for the half year to September 25th. Sales came in at £191.4 million, marginally lower than for the same half year
in 2014. Findel Education’s sales were 8.2 per cent down whilst Express Gifts’ sales were up by 2.7 per cent. The group continues to progress the sale of its Kitbag business with an unnamed buyer. Sports Direct had tried to achieve the election of one of its directors, Benjamin Gardener, to the Findel board in an attempt, it is said, to disrupt the Kitbag sale. However, at an extraordinary general meeting on the 21st December 81 per cent of shareholders voted against Gardener joining the board.
