Underground which markets a range of footwear for men and women enjoys a cult following worldwide. It has now outsourced the task of managing its online and high street retail supply chains to Walker Logistics.
Before partnering with Walker, Underground had employed the services of two individual logistics firms – one with responsibility for its B2B operation and another to fulfil B2C internet sales.
The switch means that both channels to market are managed from a single facility which brings significant cost and efficiency benefits.
Some 1500 shoe styles and sizes will be held at Walker’s multi-user facility from where they will be picked, packed and dispatched to retail outlets – including Underground’s iconic store in the heart of London’s Soho and department stores such as Selfridges and Lane Crawford – as well as direct to those members of the public who order online via the company’s own website.
As an added value service, Walker will undertake quality control checks on every pair of shoes sold via Underground’s consumer website before they leave the fulfilment centre.
