Further delays in shipments from China

Further delays in shipments from China

13/6

As if there weren’t enough issues impacting the flow of shipments from China to retailers around the world, an outbreak of Covid-19 in Guangdong province in  the south of China is now causing significant further delays at its ports. It has completely closed down one of China’s largest causing shipping lines to divert to other already congested ports.  The delays in departure from China will inevitably cause logjams in destination ports, including those in Europe, as China’s problems ease and the held up container ships start moving again.

It is considered that there will be a significant shortage of goods arriving to meet peak demand  and even though many retailers have brought forward their ordering, little of their requirements stands any chance of reaching end customers any time soon.
