It has emerged that French department store chain Galeries Lafayette
is in exclusive advanced talks with House of Fraser as the latter prepares to
float on the London Stock Exchange early this year. House of Fraser which
operates 61 stores in the UK and Ireland as well as an online sales division
has been seeking a buyer for two years. Galeries Lafayette operates 65 stores, primarily
in France, including a recently opened store in Beijing.
