Games Workshop which has now re-opened 306 of its 532 branches around the world has said that it expects to have generated around £85 million on its £270 million sales to end May 2020. A spokesperson said: “In light of these results, we aim to repay any amounts that have been received, where possible.”
The business had furloughed a significant number of staff during the lockdown period and is understood to be one of the first firms to seek to repay the subsidy it had received.
It is not known what mechanism is in place for businesses to make repayments. However, this move by Games Workshop will set a strong example to others who have, achieved profitable business growth during the lockdown period.
