Hawes & Curtis is boosting international brand awareness using Trusted Shops’ accreditation and customer review technology, as sales on its German website continue to double year on year. The British heritage men’s and womenswear retailer chose to appoint Trusted Shops as its independently verified Trustmark is highly regarded by German consumers, who are traditionally cautious about buying from unfamiliar overseas brands. Hawes & Curtis has one store in Cologne. The retailer wanted to grow its reputation across Germany using the online review platform to allow customers to talk to each other and the brand itself.
“We were looking for both a trusted accreditation and a platform where existing shoppers could talk about the brand and instil confidence in new customers. This was particularly important as Hawes & Curtis’ products are shipped from the UK, a factor which could put buyers off,” said Anne Weitling, Hawes & Curtis’ eCommerce Manager in Germany. “The Trustmark and money-back guarantee provide the assurance required by consumers to make a purchase, while our review system has enhanced online sales, which have doubled annually for the past two years.”
Established in 1913 by tailors Mr Hawes and Mr Curtis, the first store opened in London’s menswear and shirt-making destination, Jermyn Street. Today, the quintessentially British brand specialises in formal clothing ranges and provides men and women with high-quality shirts. The company operates 24 stores in the UK.
