Omnico has announced that its omniBasket software has been chosen by HMV for omni-channel fixed and mobile point of sale (POS) across the entire HMV store estate, deployed on some 1,200 units. By implementing Omnico’s software, HMV will be able to offer their customers a faster and more engaging shopping experience in-store.
“HMV continues to innovate as a brand, and we’re really pleased to be broadening our relationship with them, beyond customer engagement and into mobile and now fixed POS,” says Mel Taylor, Omnico CEO. “This is an important win for us in in-store omni-channel POS as we look to support leading brands in improving the consumer buying experience. It’s also a great example of how we work hand in hand with our customers building on the systems they already have in place.”
HMV’s legacy POS system could not keep pace with the way that their customers wanted to shop and that’s why they chose Omnico’s pioneering omniBasket software. The solution enables HMV to increase revenues by, for example, serving customers more quickly during peak times and also through assisted selling with mobile devices.
“Our customer experience is incredibly important to us as we look to interact more with consumers prior to, and during their purchase,” says Darren Houghton, Head of IT for HMV. “Omnico truly understands consumer behavior in a retail environment, and they are continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible. That’s why we chose Omnico, and are working with them closely on our technology strategy.”
By using Omnico’s technology, HMV is able to increase valuable selling space by cutting down the number of fixed tills by 10 per cent. As an existing client, HMV had already implemented Omnico’s omniEngagement software enabling it to offer a broad range of consumer promotions and their ‘Pure’ points-based loyalty scheme. As today’s shoppers make retailers work harder for their loyalty, the integration into omniBasket will allow HMV to provide more targeted promotions, quickly and effectively.
Finally, Omnico offers a structured roadmap for future enhancements and developments so that HMV’s investment in mobile POS is future proof. For example, it features integration with the latest payment technologies that will allow HMV to take advantage of any future payment innovations, such as Apple Pay.
