Holland & Barrett has acquired Halsa – a chain of 12 stores located in Stockholm which specialise in natural health and well being products. These acquired stores together with the four which Holland & Barrett already operates in Sweden will form the platform to expand to 500 stores across Scandinavia. The Halsa stores will be re-branded and offer the full Holland & Barrett range with existing staff retained along with Halsa CEO Rikard Furusten.
Chris Keen, Holland & Barrett’s CFO commented “Sweden has for some time been a key market for us given its maturity and well-established consumer appreciation of healthy living. Today’s merger consolidates our position in Stockholm and provides an important platform for planned further growth of our business in Sweden and across the wider Scandinavian market, which we believe has capacity for some 500 more stores.”
