Hotel Chocolat grew its sales by 13 per cent for the six months to 30th December, recording £80.7 million compared with the £71.7 million it reported last year. It had opened 14 new UK stores and its VIP loyalty card attracted around half a million users during the period. Profit before tax was up by 7 per cent to £13.8 million with EBITDA up by 10 per cent to £17.3 million.
CEO Angus Thirlwell said: “Growth in the UK continued to deliver improvements in profitability which have enabled us to invest in the launch of two new start-ups in New York and Tokyo, both of which are showing encouraging early signs, in terms of customer response and the initial store sales performance.”
