Under its new ownership, mature market footwear business Hotter Shoes is planning to increase the volume of shoes it manufactures in the UK to one million pairs a year. The previous owner, Unbound, had transferred much of its manufacturing to India, as it worked to offer a more fashionable offering, however this had prompted a backlash from customers who found that the fit was no longer what they expected from Hotter.
The Hotter brand had historically focused on producing comfortable footwear in the UK for older customers in a range of width fittings and its new owner is keen to win back and retain loyal customers who can trust in the fit going forward.
Hotter Shoes, now owned by WoolOvers, says it wants to increase UK production for at least 75 per cent of its range and to employ more people in the process. The business also says that it has already begun to significantly increase demand as a result of its actions.
