Huddled launches Peeko Live shopping channel on its own website

Huddled Group has launched Peeko Live, a live shopping channel on its own website, Peeko.co.uk, using technology it built in-house.

The first broadcast went live at 6pm on Friday 30 October and ran for four hours. In a stock market announcement on 2 November, the AIM-listed group said the show attracted:

  • more than 3,000 unique viewers
  • 340 viewers at its peak
  • an average viewing time of 20 minutes
  • more than 7,000 live bids
  • £6,500 of net revenue, with a 45 per cent product margin excluding promotional items.

The launch was marketed to Peeko’s existing customer database, with very little paid marketing.

How it works

Presenters demonstrate products from Peeko’s Treats, Home, Beauty, Jewellery and Gadgets ranges. Viewers can chat, bid in auctions that start at £1, take part in ten-second “sudden-death” auctions and buy limited-quantity flash sale items, with next-day delivery. The first show included an iPad, a Dyson hairdryer and a Roborock robot vacuum.

From 2 November the channel is broadcasting for eight hours a day, from 2pm to 10pm.

More channels planned

Huddled plans to take Peeko Live to Whatnot and TikTok in the coming months. Its Peeko Gadgets channel, which began as a joint venture in August, has grown weekly net sales by 221 per cent since its first week and has about 85,000 followers. Huddled now plans to run it on Whatnot, TikTok, eBay and its own website.

Other planned channels are Peeko Blinders, a fast surplus stock auction channel for Whatnot and eBay, and Nutricircle Live for the group’s health and wellness brand.

The group has seven purpose-built studios. It said it is too early to give guidance on the financial contribution from live commerce.

Executive chairman Martin Higginson said the group’s ambition is to become the leading UK live commerce business.
