IKEA Ireland has entered into a five year contract with Wincanton which will manage its first customer distribution centre in the country. Located in South West Dublin, the 280,000 sq.ft. facility will enable IKEA customers in Ireland to enjoy faster deliveries than can be currently achieved from its UK facilities.
The new warehouse will be operational early in 2024 and will create around 120 jobs. Wincanton will also use part of the new facility for the operation of a shared user service.
Jakob Bertilsson, country customer fulfilment manager, IKEA UK and Ireland said: “Establishing a distribution centre in Ireland is a significant step in further expansion in Ireland. This move supports our omnichannel strategy to cater to customers’ shopping preferences while driving towards our ambitious goal of achieving 100 per cent zero emission last mile delivery by 2025. We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Wincanton and look forward to bringing IKEA closer to even more people in Ireland.”
