Import Services expands container port

Southampton based Import Services has opened a new extension to its container port timed to cope with the increase in container shipments arriving for its clients from the Far East in readiness for the Christmas season. The business can now store 53,000 pallets in narrow aisle racking for its clients, for onward delivery to retailers including John Lewis, Harrods, Amazon, Tesco and Toys R Us.

Client services director Mike Thomas added ” Our container port facility is 200 metres from the side of a container ship and this provides us with the ability to move imported product swiftly, processing orders for Christmas and delivering out to retailers. Our port-centric expansion facilitated by ABP Southampton is also providing an optimum route to market for business to consumer orders which is a growing part of our clients’ business.”
