Instagram has released further functionality today (20 March) which will enable UK retailers to sell product via their Instagram posts. The service is (initially) free and provides tagging capability in organic posts which links users to product pages on retailers’ websites. A shopping bag icon identifies those products which can be bought.
Previously only available in the USA, the service had been trialled in the UK by Marks and Spencer, Mahabis and Heidi Klein prior to its wider release. Other countries benefiting from the new release are Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
