JD Sports in ‘exclusive talks’ to buy Arcadia warehouse

Sportswear retailer JD Sports Fashion is understood to be the favourite to buy Arcadia Group’s distribution centre in Daventry.

According to reports by Sky News, the deal could be worth between £60 million and £90 million. While JD Sports is now in ‘exclusive talks’ for the logistics hub, other interested bidders were said to include online retailers Boohoo Group, Amazon and eBay.

JD Sports was previously unsuccessful in its bid to acquire the Topshop, Topman and Miss Selfridge brands, following the collapsed of Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia empire last month.

All of Arcadia’s brands have now been sold by Deloitte, Arcadia’s administrator. Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT were acquired by ASOS for £330 million. Boohoo picked up Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Wallis for £25.2 million and City Chic Collective, an Australian omnichannel retailer, bought Evans for £23m.
