JD Sports has announced its acquisition of 80 per cent of Cosmos Sport S.A. Based in Crete, Cosmos Sport was founded in 1982 by Fragiskos Tsiknakis and is now managed by three of his sons. Michail is CEO, Eleftherios is head of property and private label, and Konstantinos is head of commercial & buying. The business operates 57 stores in Greece and three in Cyprus and to y/e 31 December 2020 it generated revenues of €52 million.
Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports Fashion Plc said: “This is another exciting acquisition for JD that further expands our presence in Europe. We welcome the highly experienced and knowledgeable Tsiknakis family to the group and we look forward to working with them on the development opportunities in the region.”
